Having a relationship with Jesus is quite an amazing thing! Look at it this way…
I have the most beautiful wife who actually lives hours and hours away from me. I don’t see her face to face and can’t feel her kick me when I do stupid things (a love kick…) but I can still stay in contact with her. I can hear her voice and talk to her when I want to thanks to the magic of technology!
Our relationship with Jesus is similar in the way that we can’t walk into our living-room and see Him kicking back on the couch and we can’t physically give Him a huge hug on a rough day, but we can still stay in contact with Him. We can know He exists and wants to connect with us.
So what kind of relationship is this? It cannot be a relationship of equals as Jesus is the the Son of God, to whom every knee should bow, and every tongue confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11). Jesus is the God who created this whole world and everything in it! He has authority over everything yet He doesn’t want to use it to make us into robots. He used His power to take on the form of a human, humbling himself, and be obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross (Philippians 2:8).
A relationship with Jesus means we need to first recognize that He is God and put our trust in Him and then work on our communication skills. I know what it’s like to be in a relationship…You need to listen and talk. This means dusting off our bibles and spending time listening and talking to God. Give it a shot. See your life change.
